Lloyds Banking Group appoints CEO of business and commercial banking

Lloyds Banking Group has appointed Amanda Murphy as chief executive officer (CEO) of business and commercial banking.

Murphy will join the group in February 2026, subject to regulatory approval, after Elyn Corfield decided to leave in 2026 to take family time following nearly nine years with the business.

Murphy was most recently co-head of commercial banking Asia and head of commercial banking for South and Southeast Asia at HSBC in Singapore.

She also held several senior roles in HSBC’s UK commercial and business banking business between 2013 and 2021, including head of commercial banking UK.

Charlie Nunn, group CEO at Lloyds Banking Group, said: “Amanda has an outstanding record in UK commercial and business banking and I will be delighted to welcome her to the team.

“Further growing our small and medium-sized business offering for customers is at the heart of our Helping Britain Prosper strategy.

“Elyn Corfield has had an extraordinary career at both MBNA and ultimately at Lloyds after its acquisition in 2017.”

Nunn added: “In her most recent role as CEO of our business & commercial banking team, she has led the way in comprehensively transforming our business to better serve our small and medium-sized business clients.

“In addition to this, she has contributed passionately to some of the UK’s biggest business challenges in the areas of regional regeneration and diverse entrepreneurship, including through the Black in Business initiative and disabled founders work as part of the Government’s Lilac Review.

“I respect her decision to step away and want to thank her for her tremendous contribution.”

Corfield said: “I’ve hugely enjoyed my time since joining Lloyds Banking Group upon the acquisition of MBNA with this week marking my 25th anniversary across both those iconic businesses.

“I want to thank Charlie Nunn for asking me to take on my current role and for supporting and championing both the business, me personally and the issues we care about.

“Supporting this segment of the UK business community has been a true honour, but the time has come for me to step away to take a period of family time.”

Corfield added: “In Amanda, we have found an outstanding leader who will be joining a great team with exciting plans for the future. She’ll be brilliant and I wish her every success.”
