Sellers of detached homes have made average gains of £122,500 in the past 18 months, more than four times the profit achieved by flat owners, according to new research from Zoopla.
Demand rose across all UK regions, particularly in the East Midlands and the East of England, with growth of 20.6% and 18.6%, respectively.
The latest figures reveal that an estimated 4,321 homes currently listed for sale have returned to the market.
In its August House Price Index, Nationwide stated that the biggest decline in transactional terms was in detached houses.
While the average house price increased by 23% since 2020, detached homes have increased in value by 29%.
The preference for detached properties among home movers has risen from 25% to 32% within the past ten years.
Over the past 10 years, the average price of detached homes in the UK has increased by 74% (£195,247) to stand at a current price of £459,013
Northern Cities in England sell up to 2,200 detached houses annually, considerably more than detached property sales in the South.
