Equity Release Group has launched The Equity Release Network (TERN) to help advisers grow their businesses in a challenging market.

TERN is aimed at both experienced equity release advisers and mortgage and protection firms looking to expand into later life lending.

Equity Release Group also reported changing customer behaviour, with equity release increasingly being used for a broader range of financial needs.

The new advisers – Haydn Garnett, Claire Nicol and Tara Fennell – join from StepChange’s former advisory division.

The firm found that 46% of its advisory arm, Equity Release Supermarket’s customers, were identified as vulnerable.

Donna Francis has over 30 years’ experience across the financial services market and has spearheaded industry wide strategic projects.

The deal will see StepChange clients gain access to Equity Release Supermarket’s whole of market advice and technology platform.

ERG emphasised the need for a better consumer experience to meet the demands of Consumer Duty and utilise available smart technology.

Mark Gregory said: “Whilst we’re seeing a marked improvement within the industry, alongside our current data, which reflects optimism and demand, there is still some way to go before the market fully recovers and will likely take a few years."

The latest appointments include Louise Thompkins, Brian Massie and Paul Massie, who all bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise from within the financial services sector.

Equity Release Group’s customers, partners and advisers will have access to all three of the new products in the Royal London Equity Release range.

The service is powered by fintech firm Equitec, and performance metrics include product rankings, quote and application data.
