Confidence among UK high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) fell to 61.3, down from 64.7 six months ago.

Confidence among UK high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) fell to 61.3, down from 64.7 six months ago.

The twice-yearly survey of 2,000 people with at least £250,000 in investible assets showed the index climbing from 58.2 earlier this year to 64.7.

Research found that 48% of HNWIs have confidence in the economy, while a third (33%) say they feel "unconfident".

Confidence increased when respondents focused on their own wealth, with 91% stating that they were confident in their own financial standing.

The Saltus Wealth Index surveyed 2,000 people with assets of over £250,000 and found that, overall, 41% of respondents have been a victim of financial crime.

The 4.6% fall in house prices could have significant implications for many HNWs and their retirement plans.

One factor driving the index upward is a 4% increase in the number of high net worth individuals feeling optimistic about the economy.

Saltus surveyed more than 2,000 people in the UK with assets, and found that 20% were helping their children with rent.

One in nine (11%) cite the state of the economy as their biggest worry, while 17% say they feel ‘unconfident’ about the next six months.
