According to the analysis, newly authorised firms record their first commission within six weeks of receiving their Authority to Advise (ATA).

Research from ValidPath found supporting succession planning was ranked highest at 16%, with attracting new clients at 11%.

Profit growth was the main focus for 66% of respondents, and 69% put client growth as a high priority.

Over half said they are targeting revenue growth of 30% or more, with 41% aiming for a 50% or more increase.

The programme offers a way for advisers to sell their client books and for others to grow through acquisition.

In his new role, Perry will be responsible for managing current support services for members and implementing new services to enhance the ValidPath IFA proposition.

Nearly half (49%) of those surveyed said technology was the most important factor in finding and keeping clients.

The survey revealed that while 77% of IFAs believe having a succession plan is important, only 31% think it is vital, and 23% do not prioritise it.
