We Buy Any Home revealed that first impressions are becoming increasingly decisive, with buyers often making snap judgements in as little as a few seconds.

Research commissioned by We Buy Any Home, based on a survey of 1,000 UK homeowners, found that 44% of respondents are concerned about their ability to afford a new home.

Smaller landlords are at risk of being disproportionately affected by the forthcoming Renters’ Rights Act, according to Elliot Castle, CEO of We Buy Any Home.

The survey from We Buy Any Home found 19% of those not planning to move named stress and emotional upheaval as the main barrier.

Research from We Buy Any Home found those aged 35 to 44 were most likely to say upgrades were holding them back.

Data from We Buy Any Home showed that among homeowners worried about affording their next property, almost half (46%) cited Budget uncertainty as the reason for delaying a sale.

The number of £5m-plus mortgages increased by nearly two-thirds between 2020 and 2021 as those making large property purchases took advantage of the low-rate environment. “And while the current cost of living crisis and forthcoming recession could see prices fall, there is still a shortage of properties such as family homes with outdoor space. Even if prices do fall, increasing expenses elsewhere mean many first-time buyers will still be left out in the cold.”
