Angela Rayner replaces Lisa Nandy as Shadow Levelling Up and Housing Secretary in Labour reshuffle

Sir Keir Starmer has appointed Deputy Labour leader Angela Rayner as the new Shadow Levelling Up Secretary and Shadow Deputy Prime Minister.

Rayner will replace Lisa Nandy who had been Shadow Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities since 2021.

Rayner had been Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, Deputy Leader of the Opposition and Shadow First Secretary of State since 2020

She joined the Shadow Cabinet in 2016 Shadow Secretary of State for Education and Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities.

Elsewhere in the reshuffle, Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves is expected to remain in post. Shadow Health Secretary Wes Streeting and Shadow Education Secretary Bridget Philipson also look likely to keep their jobs.
