The Newspage ‘Best Broker in The Universe 2023’ winner is….

The winner of the inaugural Newspage Best Broker in the Universe 2023 award has been crowned.

The award, launched earlier this month (or last, can’t remember) in association with The Intermediary, had brokers chomping at the bit to let all of humanity (and any other life forms) know why they are number one.

If there is intelligent life out there, and it needs to buy a planet at 95% LTV with a £999 arrangement fee, then it can now beam proof of income, at warp speed, to our winner or one of the two Highly Commended runners-up.

Nominations came in from singing brokers, stripping brokers (kind of), Peaky Blinders-impersonating brokers, and even brokers making comparisons to the Millennium Falcon making the Kessel Run. There was a strong whiff of ChatGPT in quite a few but we’ll overlook that.

The judges, assessing the applications over a full English in Wetherspoons, Penge, earlier today, can reveal their winners.

The winning three brokers will all be sent a special logo this week announcing their new status, which they can use in their email signatures and on their websites and stuff, and we won’t be charging them a penny to use it.

Dominic Hiatt, founder of Newspage, said: “Congrats to Darryl, Leigh and Chloe, who will all be profiled in The Intermediary in the days ahead. Darryl does a brilliant Peaky Blinders impersonation and is clearly several sandwiches short of a picnic so is perfect for this award. Leigh’s slo-mo semi-striptease also caught our attention, while any broker that sings Happy Birthday to all of her clients definitely needs public acclaim. Don’t go drinking with Ryan, he’s got hollow legs.”

Ryan Fowler, publisher of The Intermediary, added: “It’s been a tough old year for brokers and everyone needs a laugh. It’s easy to take things too seriously and I’m delighted to have seen brokers take part. Congratulations to all those getting prizes. I look forward to seeing how those who missed out on Quavers and Cheese Curls in 2023 up their game for next year.”
