Vernon Building Society invests in Stockport with a modernised headquarters

Vernon Building Society has refreshed its St Petersgate headquarters in Stockport with a £400,000 investment. The revamp introduces a contemporary design, new meeting rooms for members, and a community space for local group collaborations.

The refurbishment also features a defibrillator, installed as part of the society’s wider partnership with AEDdonate, highlighting its commitment to community welfare.

Steve Fletcher, chief executive at Vernon, commented on the renovation: “We’ve been proudly based on St Petersgate in Stockport for 100 years now, but as we celebrate our centenary, it’s fitting that we have a modern and vibrant space that colleagues can be proud of and members can enjoy spending time in. I couldn’t be happier with the finished result.”

The building society has allocated £1.2m over two years to enhance its network, with Bramhall’s branch next for refurbishment, moving to a former Natwest building.

“Our high street branch network is incredibly important to our members,” Fletcher said. “While many banks are closing their high street branches, we will continue to invest in ours for as long as our members continue to value them.”
