Bridging Finance Solutions reaffirms support for The Hive’s mentoring programme in Wirral

Bridging Finance Solutions (BFS) has renewed its commitment to The Hive, a Wirral youth zone, by continuing to fund their vital Mentoring Programme.

This support, which involves funding a mentor’s salary for the third consecutive year, is crucial in aiding vulnerable and at-risk children in Wirral.

Steve Barber, managing director of BFS, emphasised the importance of the partnership with The Hive. “The Hive is an amazing charity that provides diverse support for so many young people and children across Wirral,” he said. “As a business, we’ve formed a strong partnership with them and are keen to support them in different ways, including this funding programme, which will ensure the Mentor role can continue to exist within the organisation.”

The Hive’s Mentoring Project is integral to its services, offering guidance to young people aged between 8 and 19 years (up to 25 for those with additional needs and disabilities). The programme addresses various challenges, including family breakdown, educational exclusion, and antisocial behaviour.

The mentoring initiative requires intensive coordination and management of volunteer mentors, who undergo rigorous screening and training before being matched with mentees. They receive substantial support and guidance, ensuring effective mentor-mentee relationships and addressing issues requiring external support.

Catherine Sandow, director of fundraising at The Hive, expressed gratitude for BFS’s continued support. “Without the mentor co-ordinator, we wouldn’t essentially be able to offer a mentor service which would have a huge impact on the increasing numbers of young people needing our help,” she said. “We are absolutely delighted by BFS’ decision to once again fund our Mentoring Project for a full year, we can’t thank them enough for their incredible support.”

In addition to financial assistance, the BFS team will participate in festive activities at The Hive, including gift wrapping and preparing and delivering food hampers.
