EY appoints Alistair Brannan as UK head of life and pensions

EY has announced the promotion of Alistair Brannan to the position of UK head of life and pensions.

In his new capacity, Brannan will also join EY’s UK insurance leadership team, whilst retaining his role as client and markets leader for EY’s financial services business in Scotland.

Brannan, who is based in Edinburgh, brings over 19 years of experience in the financial services industry to his new role. He embarked on his journey with EY in 2015, initially joining as a director in financial services risk consulting, before being appointed as the life and pensions sector leader in Scotland in 2018.

In 2021, he became a partner and assumed the role of client and markets leader in Scotland. Prior to his tenure at EY, Brannan had spent more than a decade with the Royal Bank of Scotland Group.

He succeeds Martina Neary, who has recently been appointed EY’s UK insurance leader.

Neary said: “I am delighted to see Alistair take on the position of head of life and pensions in the UK. The UK’s life insurance and pensions sector is at a pivotal moment of technology transformation and policy reform, and Alistair’s deep sector knowledge and strong client relationships will be invaluable as we support clients on this journey.”

Brannan added: “I am hugely excited to lead EY’s life and pensions team in the UK. The life insurance and pensions sector plays a critical role supporting the longer-term financial resilience of people across the country. It’s a sector undergoing significant transformation, driven by evolving customer needs and expectations, developments in technology, and ongoing regulatory reform.

“While it is an undoubtedly challenging time, there are opportunities to be found, and I’m thrilled to be leading this team as we work with our clients to transform the sector for the better.”
